I am Aminata Koita, the founder of Payless Wireless. I attended the Senegalese High School both in Banjul and Kanifing. After the completion of high school, I enrolled at ITS where I completed my computer courses. While attending ITS I was engaged in making and selling tie and dye fabrics, profits earned from my small tie and dye business was used to finance my education at ITS and YCMA.Many will question how a young Gambian woman found its way into the technology field. At some point the tie and dye business died due to the fact that the Chinese tie and dye fabric flooded into the Gambian market which affected my business and I was barely making ends meet. Therefore, I decided to seek employment at Ecobank. After a year at Ecobank, I diverted my funds saved from the tie and dye business to ordering electronics from the United States and selling them to co-workers, family and friends. After eight years of selling electronics as a side business, I was able to study the market and focus on trending and hot products, as well as building a strong client base. I later decided to resign from Ecobank after nine years of service and follow my dreams of entrepreneurship. In June 2019, I opened my first location at Brusubi which is Payless Wireless. Payless Wireless is an IT and electronic company, that provide services like security camera installation, burglar alarm systems, time attendance, access control, phone and computer repairs, IT support, networking and sales of electronics.
