What The Mzanzi

We’ve both been retrenched recently as businesses operating in the media industry have shut down due to the COVID lockdown in South Africa. Our reality is that it’s taken 100 days of being in lockdown to form part of the 59% unemployed youth in South Africa. We need your help to turn around our employment status in 100 days to become entrepreneurs through our podcast called “What The Mzanzi”. The podcast is a uniquely African show that focuses on the issues affecting the youth right now.

The Team

We are an experienced team with film experience in our respective streams. We each have a minimum of over 8 years’ experience in working in the film industry and are ready to introduce a neo-youth inspired competitive edge in the content creation arena. We are a team whose sole passion is to tell authentic South African stories that the youth can resonate with at a national and global scale. Suria Jini: In her past life, she wanted to find a good job and just live paycheck to paycheck. Thanks to the forces behind COVID-19 and her retrenchment, she is now on a journey to realize her dream to be a podcast co-host and pursue her talent as a television producer. Anam Joseph: Film crew activist and W.T.M podcast co-host. Her dream is to build a big ass production studio in Alice, a small majestic rural town hidden away in the Eastern Cape, South Africa. She hopes that this side hustle will help her generate an income so she can employ more youth!
